This piano sounds great and plays well. The timbre is rich, with plenty of volume and sustain. There are no splits in the soundboard or bridge caps. The soundboard has good crown and down bearing. The piano has nearly all the original parts -- soundboard, pin block, tuning pins, reps, shanks, back checks, etc..
The tuning pins have good torque, neither driven nor juiced. There are no teflon bushings. The keytops & damper felt were replaced at an unknown date. The original hammer heads were replaced with NY Steinway parts this year when it was fully regulated and voiced by us. Touch weight and friction are at the Steinway standard.
The case looks great from 6' away. Up close, one can see minor blemishes that have been touched-up and buffed. The brass hardware polished up nicely. There's a good artists bench, too. The piano was well-maintained in Williamstown, MA for decades with a 1-tank climate control system and regular tunings.
You may play it alongside many other fine Steinway and Baldwin grands at our workshop showroom in Great Barrington, MA. The price includes one onsite tuning and ground floor delivery within 50 miles.
