Gorgeous Rebuilt and Refinished Vintage 1924 Baldwin Model K 6' 3" grand, similar in size, design, construction, and quality to the Steinway Model A, the Mason & Hamlin Model AA, or the newer Baldwin Model L's.
At the time this Baldwin was built, in the golden age of piano building here in the US (around 1900 to 1940), the Baldwin Artist grands were considered by many to be the equals of Steinway or Mason & Hamlin. This piano was originally owned by a concert artist, and the piano was, when new, played on and signed by the great Chopin interpreter and concert pianist Vladimir de Pachmann. If you have been looking at new or rebuilt Steinway Model A's or Mason & Hamlin Model AA's, (-and their premium prices-) it would be worth your while to come try out this magnificent Baldwin.
This Baldwin Model K came equipped with the top-flight piano action of the time, made by Schwander, (-which was Baldwin's policy with their larger, premium quality instruments intended for the concert stage). This action has been rebuilt with Renner German parts, following the tradition of Baldwin artist grands in later years to continue to use the finest action and action parts available. The piano has a new pinblock of the same type and material (laminated hard rock maple) as originally installed at the Baldwin factory. The original Baldwin factory soundboard has been retained, as it was still in excellent condition, with 1/8" crown, no cracks or separations, -and a very powerful sound. The bridges, ribs, rim, beam, and all other structural components are in excellent condition.
The hammers are Renner Blue Points, which use the newly rediscovered Weickert Felt recipe that was lost to the piano industry between 1945 and 1991, but which hammer felt Steinway and other top piano makers used extensively before WWII.
The strings are Mapes international gold treble strings, and Mapes copper wound bass strings, the same as have been used for many years on Steinway, Baldwin, Mason & Hamlin and a number of other premium quality pianos.
The piano still has its original keytops, which are in excellent condition, both naturals and sharps
The piano has spent the greater part of its life in the the mild climate of the San Francisco Bay Area.
It has a gorgeous figured mahogany case (see photos) that is just stunning. The refinishing was top notch, done by one of the oldest and most respected piano refinishing companies on the West Coast.
In a word, no expense was spared in the restoration of this piano, and in attempting to bring it back to its former glory.
Please come try out this exceptional instrument, and see if it doesn't compare quite favorably with the other instruments you have been trying out, whether they be Steinway, Steingraeber, Mason & Hamlin, Bechstein, Bosendorfer, Bluthner, Forster, -or Fazioli. ;-)

Piano comes with the original matching duet bench with music compartment, which has been refinished along with the piano so that they match perfectly, caster cups, a felt string cover, and a 5 yr warranty from the rebuilder.
