I spoke with Chad at Steinway in New York, who provided excellent assistance. The original piano was sold on October 22, 1913, and returned to the New York facility for a full restoration by Steinway in 2004. During this process, all key components—including the action, belly, soundboard, dampers, strings, and keys—were replaced with new, authentic Steinway New York parts. According to Chad, the restoration would have taken several months to a year to complete. This truly is a remarkable and distinctive Steinway.
