This is a Chickering from the 1930's rescued from a fate of the dumpster as an apprentice practice piano.

The restoration work performed is too numerous to comprehensively list but includes: new keytops, felts, casework (sand and finish), brass polishing, regulation, tuning. The work does not embody fully professional *cosmetic* standards and the piano is therefore offered at fully a half to a quarter of what one would otherwise pay for an instrument having received this level of work/care.

As such, an instrument like this is relatively rare: usually restorations of this caliber are only done on large "high dollar" pianos such as Steinways or Bösendorfers. This tiny (5 foot) Chickering hails from the tail end of the golden era of pianos. The quality of the materials and craftsmanship far exceed what one would find for a similar price new today.

This piano would best serve a piano student (young or old) who needs a well-regulated grand keyboard action in order to master the intricate techniques on a proper instrument and not an upright or digital piano simulator (digital "piano"). Being only 5' long, and being designed for size, it's significantly more compact/smaller than 99% of other grand pianos; perfect for size/room considerations.

The action is incredibly light and a dream to play. The sound character is one almost lost to history: uniquely Chickering, playful and not serious, but with an endearing charm that encourages the player to extract from the repertoire/music as much as possible.
