A beautiful Steinway model B grand piano in a gorgeous mahogany case, it is an exceptionally fine instrument in fine condition.The size is 6' 10.5". The Serial No. is 95089, which indicates it was made in New York in 1900.

Condition: Some years ago this piano was rebuilt and refinished to a very high standard. The plate was rebuilt and the soundboard was shimmed and refinished. The strings and tuning pins were replaced and all of the action components were replaced with top quality parts, including hammers, shanks, flanges, dampers, keytops, key bushings and key felts. Although I don't know the identity or location of the rebuilder, it's clear this was a very professional job, as one would expect given the prominence of Ms. Watts. Since the time the piano was completed, it's obvious it has been well played and loved.

Case: The case is extremely beautiful with carved legs, music desk and pedal lyre. The wood is a gorgeous figured mahogany flame grain veneer with a shimmering quality that is beautiful from every angle, and "moves" as you walk around the piano. Take a look at a few modern Steinways and you will see that they just can't get wood like this any more. The finish is beautiful and warm in polished lacquer. It has a few of the usual very small nicks and scratches here and there and there is a small amount of crazing, but overall the cabinet is stunning.

Tone: The Steinway is of course famous and highly prized for its rich resonant tone. The model B is recognized as the piano of choice for the most discriminating musicians and is seen in the world's prestigious performance spaces, as well as the homes and studios of the most demanding professionals. This piano has the powerful, resonant tone that makes these instruments so precious to their lucky owners.

In addition: There is a QRS 20000 Pianomation system installed on this Steinway (at a cost of approximately $8,000). If you are not familiar with a pianomation system, it is a mechanism that is installed in a piano which allows the piano to play utilizing CD's. or of course it can also be played by hand in the normal way, as piano action and keyboard are entirely conventional.

Value: Despite the fact that this piano is over 100 years old, it is fully modern in all of its components and has virtually every part in common with a brand new Steinway. It is easily serviceable now and will remain so far into the foreseeable future.
