This is Steinway classic grand piano with remarkable tone and a unique history. It has an ebony finish and a classic style. It is an ebony Model B made in 1941, serial number 306537. At 7 ft. long, this model is considered by many to be Steinway’s best piano. It is known for its constantly refined tone, touch sensitivity, broader dynamic range, longer sustain and nuanced color. It was purchased and owned by Stell Andersen, a concert pianist living in Bennington, Vermont. She began her solo career playing at Carnegie Hall (1922), toured the United States and Europe, premiered major pieces at the New York Philharmonic by Milhaud and others, was the only American pianist invited to play at the Paris Exhibition (1937), and was the first musician invited to perform on the newly installed piano in the East room of the White House (1939). She was extremely proud of this instrument. It has had excellent care through the years, being in smoke-free, temperature controlled homes with the use of a piano humidifier and yearly tunings. It has been owned by three generations of the same family. It was recently professionally appraised.
