For sale is a 2011 Wendl and Lung 161 grand piano, serial number 33917. You can read more about the history of Wendl and Lung here: https://thepianoplace.com/blogs/allblogs/history-of-wendl-lung?srsltid=AfmBOorMUyHNO8_qE5CIbXEkVjdA1vPZJRvAoDQeaU7M497sevi1qeAl

The piano is in fantastic condition and has received expert maintenance (including fine-regulation and voicing every year) by my university's concert tech. The only reason I am selling is that I would like to move up in size to a 7' length instrument. To give you some idea of its caliber, I think it compares extremely well to a Yamaha C2 (conservatory-level) piano that I play regularly -- I prefer it to the C2 --- and the Kawai RX2 (also the conservatory-grade series); I prefer it to most smaller Steinways (M and below) that I have played. It would be a wonderful piano for a serious student, and a competent practice instrument for a more advanced player.

The let-off has been set extremely carefully and it is easy to play pp, the soundboard is immaculate, the strings are like new, the hammers are made of high quality felt and amenable to detailed voicing to your preference by your technician (the basic tonal quality is closer to the European end of the spectrum), and it has full duplex scaling and a slow close fallboard. The sustain in the killer octave is excellent for an instrument in the under 25K range -- potential buyers are welcome to play some slow, lyrical melody lines (e.g. the second movement of Beethoven Sonata No. 1 in F Minor) and judge for themselves. It is also clear enough tonally that it would be good for jazz musicians (although it is a bit warmer/more singing than the equivalent sized Yamaha C-series).

A new, comparable, Wendl and Lung (the 162) would cost closer to 30K. A Wendl and Lung distributor said that he could easily offer at least 10K for this piano on trade-in and that he would certainly sell it for quite a bit more. I am asking only $7725 because I would like to sell it quickly to make room for a larger instrument. Please, serious buyers only -- it is best that you play the instrument yourself so that you can make an informed judgment. You are welcome to contact me to arrange a viewing.
