For sale is a used Yamaha upright piano. Model M1A SAW. Made in Hamamatsu Japan for the American market in 1979. Dimension: 108(H) x 146.5(W) x 56(D) cm. We purchased the piano on 11/19/1980 from Netzow Piano in Milwaukee, WI. We recently had it tuned and the technician said it was in excellent condition and gave us an estimate of $5000 - $7000 for this piano even with the minor cosmetic issues he observed. There is a bench included. I do not see any Yamaha markings on it so I assume it is a basic bench we bought along with the piano. All 3 pedals work as they should.

This was purchased primarily for my sister to use, who was 14 at the time. I tried it but it did not take with me. She used it lightly for lessons until she went to University. After that it was only used when she would occasionally come to town to visit but that was very rare. So over the years it has seen very little use, which explains the technicians comments about the condition. When my sister and her family were visiting two years ago she had the piano tuned so they could enjoy it again. Other than that is had been a decoration in the house. Since it is not being used anymore and is no longer needed I am selling it.

You will see in the pictures there are some marks/scuffs from moving but they are only cosmetic. The two worst ones arn near the rear of the piano and not very visible. There are also some spots where painters got a little paint on it but I did not want to aggressively clean those areas for fear of damaging the finish. The keyboard is also in great shape except for the one key seen in the photographs that has 3 small marks. I do not know if this can be replaced but again this is only cosmetic. I'm sure all of this can be repaired by someone who specializes in this kind of work, again I did not want to risk creating new issues so it is as is, which is in really great shape overall.

After doing a little research online this is one of the rare examples of a Japanese made Yamaha that is not a "gray market" piano because it was made in Japan for the American market and climate.
