A treasure among upright pianos!! For sale is a Kawai studio upright purchased new locally in 1978. We are retired university professors with two pianos and need only one. While we teach and practice principally on the Yamaha C3 grand, I personally love playing this upright!!! (It causes even my scales to sound good!) The instrument is well-regulated and responsive (sensitive to gradations in dynamics and variety of touches)--comparable to some grand pianos--, and has a fine tone. The three pedals are, from left to right, una corda (soft pedal), practice pedal (which reduces the volume and locks into place with a sideways movement of the foot), and damper (sustaining) pedal. The instrument tends to hold its tune and has served well as a teaching and practice instrument. Thus, it would be an asset to teachers and students but could also be useful in a music classroom or a church.
