This Mason is from the golden era of pianos. It has new key covering in simulated ivory, new hammers (they are Steinway hammers) and hammer shanks with flanges were put on in the recent past - they look like new. The finish is original and has been buffed out and touched up. It does have many small scratches and small dings in the finish but from an 8ft distance it looks pretty good for its age. I would give it at least a 6.5 out of 10 - its not perfect. The soundboard has several hairline cracks but it is still glued well to the ribs. The action is fluid and responsive and the sound is warm yet powerful when needed. If your looking for a great sounding piano and can overlook the non-perfect finish this piano is for you.
